Area Council 17

This page lists events sponsored and/or supported by Area 17 Council and the Community Leagues of Area 17 Council. Community Leagues of Area 17 Council are those Community Leagues located North of 137 Ave. between 97 St. and the Manning Freeway, within the boundaries of the Area Council.

Annual BBQ and Volunteer of the Year Awards were held May 3rd, 2008, at Londonderry Community Hall

Awards were presented at the annual Area 17 BBQ and awards night held on May 3rd.

Congratuations to Nelson Dell and Cindy Wandio who were chosen as Evansdale Community League Volunteers of the Year. Nelson Dell helped organize the Little Kickers soccer program for Kilkenny, Evansdale and Londonderry community leagues. Cindy Wandio worked hard on planning issues in Eaux Claires, she helped attract new interest and volunteers to Evansdale and she is also the secretary of the league.

Also congratulations to Shawna Walsh of Evansdale who was awarded a special Area 17 Volunteer Award for her years of community volunteering.

Congratulations to Steve Rhodes and Betty Mah for there being chosen as Lago Lindo’s Volunteers of the Year for 2008. Both of you have done outstanding volunteer work for our community and on behalf of all the Executive, the members and of course the kids we do it for…THANK YOU!

Congratulations also to Ray Vigneau, Past President of the Eagles Hockey Assoc. for being honored by Area 17 Council for his outstanding contributions to all our kids in the area for the last 11 years. He has been a positive influence on everyone involved in hockey as well as serving our/your Community, and our /your Community League’s Executive board in the past. He was a great choice for the recognition.
